Dupa ce am reinstalat distributia Centos (din cauza unor redimensionari/mutari/adaugari de partitii) nu mai mi-a mers MPlayer. Aveam eroarea Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
Trebuie sa stergi .mplayer din directorul de home al utilizatorului, pornesti MPlayer, in Preferences, la Video selectezi XV in loc de XVMC. Inchizi MPlayer-ul, il redeschizi si ar trebui sa mearga. La mine a functionat.

After I reinstalled CentOS distro (due some partitions changes) MPlayer failed to play movies with Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device error.
To solve this problem you must delete .mplayer from user home directory, start MPlayer again, and in Preferences, Video you must to select XV insteed of XVMC. Restart MPlayer and now it should work.
